The Sacrament of Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated weekly on Saturdays before Mass.
Sin weighing on your heart? The Sacrament of Reconciliation—one of the two Sacraments of Healing—is a sacred encounter with Jesus Christ, who forgives our sins and restores us to grace. Through this sacrament, we experience the boundless mercy of God and are invited to begin again in peace and joy.
Reconciliation is not only about forgiveness—it’s about renewal. It draws us closer to God, strengthens our conscience, and restores harmony within ourselves and our community. Whether it has been weeks or years since your last confession, know that you are always welcome.
First Reconciliation
Preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation takes place prior to First Communion (typically around 2nd grade). By receiving this sacrament first, children learn the beauty of God’s mercy and approach the altar for Communion with hearts unburdened.
Even at a young age, this experience helps children understand that forgiveness is not about fear—it’s about love, healing, and the joy of being made whole again in Christ. While most children prepare around age seven, all who seek this Sacrament are welcome, regardless of age.
The preparation process begins with an information meeting in the spring prior to the year of reception, and the sacrament is typically celebrated during Advent or Christmas.
