Serving Our Neighbors With Compassion

At St. Mary’s of the Lake, the Human Development Committee is dedicated to embodying Christ’s call to love and serve those in need. In partnership with Skaneateles Outreach, we assist individuals and families facing hardships such as utility challenges, unexpected home crises, or the need for essential household items. Through your generosity, we are able to support numerous ministries and organizations throughout our community and beyond. Together, we extend hope, dignity, and care to our neighbors.

Local Outreach & Essential Support

Skaneateles Outreach: Helping neighbors with utilities, home appliances, and emergency needs.
Our Sandwich Ministry: Providing sandwiches for the Assumption Food Pantry/Soup Kitchen and the Samaritan Center.
The Campaign Against Hunger: Supporting local food pantries and outreach programs.
The Food Bank of Central New York: Supplying food to pantries across our region.
Samaritan Center: Serving hot meals to low-income individuals and families.
We Rise Above the Streets: Advocating for those experiencing homelessness.
In My Father’s Kitchen: Delivering meals and essential support to the unhoused.
A Tiny Home for Good: Offering stable housing for those transitioning out of homelessness.
Eastern Farm Workers Association: Assisting migrant workers with essential needs.

Children, Families & Education

Vincent House Guild: Sponsoring children for year-round Pre-K programs.
Catholic Charities: Supplying book bags for families.
Birthright of Syracuse: Providing clothing and diapers for infants and young children.
Pregnancy Care Center (Auburn): Offering essentials for infants and young children.
Joseph’s House: Supporting life—from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day—with annual bottle drives.
Mothers and Children in Crisis: Supplying hygiene products for families in need.
Village Landing: Hosting holiday luncheons for residents.

Faith, Fellowship & Special Initiatives

Jail Ministry: Providing Bibles, envelopes, stamps, and warm socks.
Breakfast with Santa at St. Anthony’s: Donating unwrapped toys for children.
Brady Faith Center: Supporting Easter dinners and responding to special needs.
The Giving Tree: Offering gift cards to assist families with Christmas needs.
Advent Wreaths: Supporting parishioners in preparing spiritually for the Advent season.

The Human Development Committee meets on the first Monday of each month at 9:00 AM in the Parish Center. All are welcome—come learn more, share ideas, and help us continue building hope in our community.
